Consider this exciting opportunity to provide day-to-day operational and business academic leadership for multiple programs, manage faculty and staff within the unit and provide future program direction. In this role you will use your exceptional cooperation and communication skills to establish a positive, constructive team environment that supports students, college faculty, and staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Program Maintenance and Development: Develop new programs from business plans and proposals, external approvals, advisory boards and from budgets. Must have an understanding of; College and divisional policies and procedures, project management, curriculum development, supervisory and administrative processes, marketing, piloting of programs, student characteristics and applicable ethics policies. Will be responsible for ensuring that department feedback, issues, and concerns are communicated to the department staff and the Dean.

Faculty and Staff Support: Recruitment, orientation, evaluation and professional development of staff and faculty. As a faculty member you will ensure that all program/development faculty and staff are engaged as active participants in ensuring that goals and objectives are realized and that an effective learning environment is maintained through innovation, creativity, and teaching excellence. You will provide faculty evaluation in a manner that complies with all instructor performance indicators.

Student Success: Providing leadership to promote a climate of continuous learning, student development, and student success. Developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies, providing input to awards/scholarships to recognize student success.

Internal and External Liaison:
• Internal: Liaising with all college services and departments to design and implement business processes. Coordinating departmental communication with college committees and facilitating program faculty participation on college committees.

• External: Acting as the contact person for consultation with relevant regulatory and professional associations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in adult education or TESL.
• Considerable experience in administration and in teaching ESL and literacy in a post-secondary environment required.
• Equivalencies will be considered.

Knowledge of:
• Current best practices in ESL, and adult learning principles.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB’s) specializing in implementation and assessment.
• Trends and patterns with policy and target groups related to immigration and labour market.
• ESL/ Adult classroom instruction and management.
• Business practices, marketing, team building, organizing time, managing, leading, etc.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience
