Regulation of private ESL schools Controversy

In BC Language schools face no requirement for registration. The number of ESL schools and value of the courses they offer is not known.

According to the Vancouver Sun Editorial, Wednesday, January 10, 2007 the reputation of British Columbia's education system is under attack and the provincial government is doing little to defend it.

This week, Vancouver Sun education reporter Janet Steffenhagen reports that China is warning students who want to study abroad to avoid all private post-secondary schools in Canada because shady operators here are fleecing hundreds of international students every year.
